MISSION AND OBJECTIVES
The centre prepares graduates who conduct research in the field of criminology at the university's Sociology department. Over the years, the following themes have been studied at the university: ‘Juvenile Delinquency', ‘Human Rights and Stigmatisation of offenders', ‘Juveniles as a subject of criminal study', ‘Social control in the process of European Integration' etc.

European Foundation for Street Children (since 2005). The centre is in collaboration with the following universities in its research and studies in the "Global Justice Education Consortium": University of Bologna (Italy), University of Barcelona (Spain), American University in Washington, D.C. (USA), Florida State University in Talahassee, Florida (USA) and the Sam Houston University in Huntsville, Texas (USA).

FIELDS OF INTERVENTION
Since the academic year 1997-1998 the Criminology Department in collaboration with the Sociology Department have been organising a Postgraduate Programme on social inclusion, partly funded by the EU, entitled, "The criminological aspects of social exclusion." The criminological aspects of social exclusion are being considered and 21 specialists on the treatment of social excluded persons are trained each year through this programme.
